Masatoshi Kudo
Japanese hepatologist who led REFLECT, the trial that made lenvatinib a first-line option for liver cancer.
Overview
Masatoshi Kudo (Kindai University, Osaka) was principal investigator of REFLECT, which showed lenvatinib is non-inferior to sorafenib in unresectable hepatocellular carcinoma and became the first new first-line option in a decade. He has published extensively on combining systemic therapy with transarterial chemoembolisation and edits the journal Liver Cancer. He continues to lead HCC trials across Asia.
