Overview
Shalene Curtis-Micallef is Deputy Minister of Health at Health Canada, the federal department responsible for health policy, regulation and drug and medical device approvals in Canada. She took up the role on 19 January 2026, having previously been Deputy Minister of Justice and Deputy Attorney General of Canada. At Justice Canada she also served as Executive Director and Senior General Counsel for the Health Portfolio, working on files including tobacco control, cannabis regulation, food safety modernisation and public health. She holds a law degree from Osgoode Hall Law School and a business degree from the University of Ottawa.
