NHS HPV vaccination programme
The NHS gives the HPV vaccine free at school around age 12 to 13, and anyone who missed it can still get it free until they turn 25.
Overview
The NHS HPV programme began for girls in 2008 and was extended to boys in 2019; since 2023 a single dose is given in Year 8 in England. Anyone eligible who missed the school dose can have it free from their GP until their 25th birthday, and men who have sex with men aged up to 45 can have it at sexual health clinics. The programme has already cut cervical cancer sharply in the first vaccinated cohorts, which is why OnCo lists it among the highest-value free things in oncology.
