Arcellx
Arcellx developed anito-cel, a CAR T-cell therapy for multiple myeloma that reprogrammes a patient's own immune cells to attack a marker called BCMA. Gilead bought the company in 2026 for about $7.8 billion ahead of a possible US approval.
Overview
Arcellx developed anitocabtagene autoleucel (anito-cel), an autologous BCMA-directed CAR T-cell therapy built on the company's synthetic D-domain binder, for relapsed or refractory multiple myeloma. Anito-cel was co-developed and co-commercialised with Kite, a Gilead company, under a 2022 collaboration. The BLA for fourth-line relapsed or refractory multiple myeloma, supported by the phase 1 study (NCT04155749) and the pivotal phase 2 iMMagine-1 study (NCT05396885), was accepted by the FDA with a PDUFA date of 23 December 2026. Arcellx listed on Nasdaq in February 2022 (gross proceeds about $142 million). In February 2026 Gilead agreed to acquire the company for $115 per share in cash plus a $5 contingent value right, an implied equity value of about $7.8 billion, and completed the tender offer and merger on 28 April 2026. Arcellx is now a wholly owned subsidiary of Gilead and arcellx.com redirects to Kite.
