Bright Peak Therapeutics makes immune medicines that combine a PD-1 checkpoint blocker with an immune-boosting signal aimed at T cells inside tumours. Its first such medicine entered an early trial in solid tumours, which has since stopped.
Bright Peak Therapeutics, based at the Switzerland Innovation Park Basel Area in Allschwil, Switzerland, with a US site in Del Mar, California, uses chemical protein synthesis and site-specific conjugation to make multifunctional immunotherapies built on PD-1 inhibition. Its lead, BPT567, is a PD1-IL18 immunoconjugate designed to block PD-1 and deliver IL-18 signalling to PD-1 positive effector T cells in the tumour. The company dosed the first patient in its phase 1/2a trial (NCT06779851) in October 2024; the registry lists the trial as terminated with 20 participants enrolled. It also described a PD1-IL2 conjugate with a tumour-activatable masked IL-2 payload. It raised a 107 million US dollar Series B in June 2021 and a 90 million US dollar Series C in June 2024 led by Johnson and Johnson Innovation, JJDC, with Venrock, founding investor Versant Ventures, RA Capital Management and Alexandria Venture Investments among others. Its first registered cancer trial, NCT06779851, was posted on ClinicalTrials.gov in January 2025.
