Cellectis
Cellectis is the Paris gene-editing company that pioneered off-the-shelf CAR-T cells with its TALEN editing tools, and makes them at its own plants in Paris and Raleigh, North Carolina.
Overview
Cellectis, founded in Paris in 1999 and listed on Nasdaq, developed the TALEN nucleases used to remove the T cell receptor and CD52 from donor T cells so that a single donor's cells can be banked as many allogeneic CAR-T doses. Its UCART programmes target CD19, CD22, CD123 and other antigens, its editing is licensed to Allogene, and it operates its own GMP manufacturing sites in Paris and Raleigh, North Carolina. AstraZeneca became a major shareholder and partner in 2023 and 2024.
