MEI Pharma
MEI Pharma is a San Diego company whose PI3K-delta inhibitor zandelisib for follicular lymphoma was dropped in 2022 after the FDA signalled it would need a randomised trial, following the class-wide safety review of PI3K inhibitors.
Overview
MEI Pharma, listed on Nasdaq, developed zandelisib, an intermittently dosed PI3K-delta inhibitor partnered with Kyowa Kirin, for relapsed follicular and marginal zone lymphoma; it reached the phase 3 COASTAL trial before the FDA's 2022 reassessment of PI3K inhibitors in blood cancers led the partners to stop US development. The company also studied voruciclib, a CDK9 inhibitor, in acute myeloid leukaemia, and later wound down its pipeline. It appears on OnCo as a lead sponsor of phase 3 cancer trials on ClinicalTrials.gov.
