Stelexis BioSciences develops medicines for blood cancers that aim at the earliest faulty stem cells behind them. Its lead is a tablet that blocks an enzyme called PI3K-gamma, tested in acute myeloid leukaemia and higher-risk myelodysplastic syndromes.
Stelexis BioSciences, of Waltham, Massachusetts, began as Stelexis Therapeutics, LLC, which Deerfield established in 2017 with scientific founders from Albert Einstein College of Medicine and Montefiore and from Boston Children's Hospital, and which closed a 43 million US dollar Series A in January 2019. It focuses on haematological cancers. Its lead, eganelisib, is a PI3K-gamma inhibitor in a phase 1 trial (NCT06533761) alone and with cytarabine in relapsed or refractory AML and higher-risk MDS, and with azacitidine in untreated higher-risk MDS, with sites in the US and Spain; the company announced positive phase 1 data in an oral presentation at ASCO 2026 and plans a first-line combination with azacitidine in PI3K-gamma high higher-risk MDS. An IL-1RAP programme, STLX-2012, is aimed at inflammatory disease. Its first registered cancer trial, NCT06533761, was posted on ClinicalTrials.gov in August 2024.
