Proxygen
Proxygen is a Vienna company that hunts for molecular glues, small molecules that make cells destroy cancer-driving proteins. Its two lead programmes, against p300 and CDK12, are still in the laboratory.
Overview
Proxygen is a Vienna biotechnology company founded from the CeMM Research Center for Molecular Medicine of the Austrian Academy of Sciences (founders include Georg Winter and Giulio Superti-Furga) that discovers molecular glue degraders and, since April 2026, broader induced proximity therapeutics. Its most advanced programme is a first-in-class oral p300 glue degrader with sub-nanomolar potency and covalent glue pharmacology, aimed at transcription-driven cancers such as prostate, lung and bladder cancer and at CBP-mutant tumours with a synthetic lethal dependence on p300. The second lead, a brain-penetrant CDK12 glue degrader, is directed at aggressive HER2-driven cancers and tumours with central nervous system involvement. Both are preclinical, with development candidate nomination and IND-enabling studies planned over the following 12 to 18 months.
