An iron-based MRI dye designed to show whether lymph nodes contain cancer. Its European application was withdrawn in 2007 and it is not authorised there.
The EMA register lists Sinerem (iron oxide, Guerbet, EMEA/H/C/000801) with the status "Application withdrawn", the withdrawal dated 13 December 2007. The WHO index lists iron oxide nanoparticles as ATC V08CB03 among superparamagnetic contrast media.
Ultrasmall iron oxide nanoparticles, a superparamagnetic contrast medium, change the MRI signal of tissues that take them up; the product was developed to image lymph nodes.
