A blue dye given into a vein near the end of an operation on the pelvis, so the surgeon can see blue urine coming from each ureter and check they were not damaged.
Provepharm's Bludigo (NDA 216264, first approved 8 July 2022) "is indicated for use as a visualization aid in the cystoscopic assessment of the integrity of the ureters in adults following urological and gynecological open, robotic, or endoscopic surgical procedures".
Given into a vein, the dye is excreted by the kidneys and colours the urine blue, so urine jets from each ureteric opening can be seen in the bladder.
