A urine test that reads small RNAs from tiny vesicles to detect prostate cancer and judge its grade, so far validated in a case-control study.
MiRNA Scientific calls it "the first and only non-invasive liquid biopsy urine test that accurately detects, classifies and can monitor prostate cancer at the molecular level" (the maker's claim). Its first report interrogated small non-coding RNAs from urinary vesicles of 235 participants on microarrays and was then validated in a case-control sample of 1,436 subjects with 94 per cent sensitivity and 92 per cent specificity (Wang 2020). No regulatory or coverage status was found.
Small non-coding RNAs from urinary vesicles are read on microarrays and classified to separate prostate cancer from no cancer and low from higher grade.
