Appendix Cancer Connection Inc. was founded to provide support and information to people newly diagnosed with appendix cancer, and was incorporated in 2008 as a 501(c)(3), according to its about page. Its founder, Carolyn Langlie-Lesnik, an oncology clinical nurse specialist, writes there that she was diagnosed with signet ring appendix cancer in 2001, was treated with cytoreductive surgery and peritoneal chemotherapy, and has since communicated with more than 3,000 newly diagnosed appendix cancer patients. The same page profiles surgeons who perform cytoreductive surgery with hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC). The IRS records it in Schererville, Indiana, with tax exemption issued in March 2008.
