Overview
The Instituto Nacional del Cáncer of Argentina was created in 2010 as the Ministry of Health's agency for cancer control. Rather than a hospital, it is a policy and programme body that runs the national breast, cervical and colorectal cancer screening programmes, the Argentine Institutional Hospital Cancer Registry network (RITA), the national childhood cancer registry, clinical guidelines and training, and the national cancer control plan, and it funds research grants. It coordinates with provincial health ministries and with the Roffo and Alexander Fleming institutes and the paediatric Hospital Garrahan on quality of cancer care.
