National Cancer Centre Singapore
Singapore's national cancer centre and the largest cancer facility in the country, with a proton centre and leading Asian research in liver and lung cancer genomics.
The National Cancer Centre Singapore opened in 1999 and moved into a new purpose-built building on the Outram campus in 2023 that houses South-east Asia's first hospital-based proton therapy centre (Goh Cheng Liang Proton Therapy Centre). It treats the majority of Singapore's public-sector cancer patients and, with Duke-NUS Medical School and the Genome Institute of Singapore, has produced influential research on Asian lung cancer in never-smokers, hepatocellular carcinoma and cholangiocarcinoma genomics (including the liver-fluke associated cholangiocarcinoma genome), nasopharyngeal cancer and cancer immunotherapy. NCCS runs the Singapore Translational Cancer Consortium, a large phase 1 unit, and cell therapy programmes with the Singapore Immunology Network, and it coordinates national screening and survivorship initiatives.
