Terry Fox Foundation
The foundation that grew out of Terry Fox's 1980 Marathon of Hope; with the Terry Fox Research Institute it funds cancer research across Canada from the annual Terry Fox Run.
Overview
The Terry Fox Foundation carries on the Marathon of Hope that Terry Fox began in 1980 after losing a leg to osteosarcoma. It runs the annual Terry Fox Run in Canada and abroad, and works with the Terry Fox Research Institute, founded in 2007, which funds team science and the Marathon of Hope Cancer Centres Network linking Canadian cancer centres around shared data and precision medicine. The Foundation and Institute describe their work as pursuit of Terry's dream to end cancer through research. The Run remains one of the largest single-day cancer fundraisers in the world.
