Jim Woodgett

Dr Jim Woodgett is President and Scientific Director of the Terry Fox Research Institute (TFRI), established in 2007 as the research arm of The Terry Fox Foundation to invest in collaborative cancer research teams across Canada, and he also sits on its Board of Directors. He took up the role on 1 August 2021, having directed research at the Lunenfeld-Tanenbaum Research Institute at Sinai Health from 2005 to 2021, where he remains a Senior Scientist; he is also Professor of Medical Biophysics at the University of Toronto. He earned his PhD in biochemistry at the University of Dundee in 1984, did postdoctoral work at the Salk Institute, is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada and has published more than 300 papers on signal transduction in cancer, degenerative disease and diabetes.
