Overview
Fernando Peláez is Acting Scientific Director of the Centro Nacional de Investigaciones Oncológicas (CNIO) in Madrid, following the 2025 departure of María Blasco. A biologist with a background in natural-products drug discovery, he previously directed CNIO's Biotechnology Programme. In September 2025 the CNIO Board of Trustees proposed Raúl Rabadán as the centre's next Scientific Director, with Peláez holding the acting role in the interim.
