Immunologist who leads the Institut Pasteur in Paris, having taken up its presidency in January 2024 after a long career at the US National Institutes of Health.
Overview
Yasmine Belkaid is President of the Institut Pasteur, the Paris-based private non-profit foundation for biomedical research, education and public health. She was appointed on 29 March 2023 and began a six-year term in January 2024. Her research addresses interactions between hosts and microbes, in particular how the microbiota shapes immunity and inflammation. She previously headed the Mucosal Immunology Unit and directed the Microbiome programme at the US National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, and held an adjunct professorship at the University of Pennsylvania.
