John N. Primrose
British surgeon who led BILCAP, the trial that made six months of capecitabine the standard after surgery for bile duct and gallbladder cancer.
Overview
John Primrose is professor of surgery at the University of Southampton. He was chief investigator and first author of the 2019 Lancet Oncology report of BILCAP, the UK trial that compared adjuvant capecitabine with observation after resection of biliary tract cancer. The survival benefit in the per-protocol analysis led guidelines to adopt capecitabine as the standard adjuvant treatment.
