John Bridgewater
Senior author of the UK's two standard-setting biliary trials, ABC-02 and BILCAP, chief investigator of ABC-06, and UK lead of the first-line precision medicine trial SAFIR-ABC10.
Overview
John Bridgewater is professor of medical oncology at the UCL Cancer Institute and a consultant at UCLH. He was senior author on ABC-02 (gemcitabine plus cisplatin as first-line standard) and BILCAP (adjuvant capecitabine), chief investigator of ABC-06 (second-line FOLFOX) and leads the National Cancer Research Institute biliary tract subgroup. He leads the UK arm of SAFIR-ABC10, sponsored by UCL and UCLH, which profiles tumours and matches patients with cholangiocarcinoma or gallbladder cancer to one of seven targeted therapies, and co-authored the 2023 British Society of Gastroenterology cholangiocarcinoma guideline.
