Overview
Sigurdur Kristinsson (University of Iceland) leads iStopMM, the nationwide study that invited every Icelander over 40 to be screened for monoclonal gammopathy and randomised those found to have MGUS to different follow-up strategies, the first population-based test of whether screening for a myeloma precursor improves outcomes. The study has already refined MGUS prevalence and progression estimates and identified smouldering myeloma in the population.
