CD27
CD27 is an accelerator on most T cells that is pressed by CD70. Agonist antibodies against it reached phase 2 in lymphoma; its partner CD70 is a separate target for antibodies and CAR-T cells.
Overview
CD27 (chromosome 12p13.31) is a costimulatory immune-checkpoint receptor on T cells, NK cells and B cells that is activated by its ligand CD70 on B cells; CD70-CD27 signalling mediates antigen-specific T-cell activation and expansion (UniProt P26842). It is found in most T lymphocytes. Varlilumab (CDX-1127), a CD27 agonist antibody, reached phase 2 with nivolumab in relapsed aggressive B-cell lymphoma (NCT03038672); several combination studies were terminated for portfolio re-prioritisation (NCT02386111).
