South Africa offers girls vaccination against human papillomavirus (HPV) in its national schedule, introduced in 2014; WHO's latest schedule lists one dose at age 9.
WHO's immunization data record HPV vaccine as introduced in South Africa in 2014. In the 2025 data the introduction is recorded as nationwide and the country reports a one-dose schedule. The routine schedule reported to WHO for 2025 gives one dose of bivalent vaccine to girls at age 9. The country's note in the WHO schedule table reads: "Females 9 years and older in Grade 4". For hepatitis B vaccine, WHO records the birth dose as given to risk groups only in 2025.
