Ataraxis AI analyses digitised breast tumour slides with artificial intelligence to estimate how likely a cancer is to return and whether chemotherapy is likely to help, returning results in a day without using up tissue.
Overview
Ataraxis AI, based in New York City, develops AI-native prognostic and predictive tests for cancer. Its foundation models (Kestrel and Falcon) are trained on hundreds of millions of pathology image tiles to learn tumour morphology features that correlate with outcomes. Its first product, Ataraxis Breast, provides recurrence risk, chemotherapy benefit and neoadjuvant response assessments from routine H&E slides within 24 hours, without consuming tissue. The company reported its test was about 30 percent more accurate than the current standard of care in a clinical validation study, published in Nature Communications in July 2026. Its laboratory received CAP accreditation and a California licence in August 2026, and in September 2026 it launched ARC, a prospective study linking AI predictions to outcomes. A $20.4 million Series A led by AIX Ventures closed in March 2025.
