Diffusion Pharmaceuticals, founded in 2001 in Charlottesville, Virginia, developed trans sodium crocetinate (TSC), a carotenoid derivative that increases oxygen diffusion into hypoxic tissue, as a radiosensitiser. Its phase 3 INTACT trial in newly diagnosed glioblastoma was terminated early, and the company merged with EIP Pharma in 2023. Its trials remain on ClinicalTrials.gov under Diffusion as lead sponsor.
