Infinity was the Cambridge biotech that discovered duvelisib, the PI3K-delta/gamma inhibitor later approved for chronic lymphocytic leukaemia, before licensing it out and turning to eganelisib; it filed for bankruptcy in 2023.
Overview
Infinity Pharmaceuticals, founded in 2001 in Cambridge, Massachusetts, developed duvelisib (IPI-145) through the phase 3 DUO trial in relapsed chronic lymphocytic leukaemia before licensing it to Verastem, which won approval in 2018. Its later PI3K-gamma inhibitor eganelisib reached phase 2 in combination with checkpoint inhibitors, and the company filed for bankruptcy in 2023. Its trials remain on ClinicalTrials.gov under Infinity as lead sponsor.
