A US company developing VT3989, a pill that blocks the Hippo pathway signal some tumours depend on. It is being tested mainly in mesothelioma, a cancer of the lining of the lungs and abdomen, now moving to a Phase 3 trial.
Vivace Therapeutics develops small molecules targeting the Hippo pathway. Its lead candidate, VT3989, inhibits autopalmitoylation of TEAD proteins. In its March 2025 release the company said VT3989 had been given to more than 150 patients in an open-label Phase 1 study in refractory metastatic solid tumours (NCT04665206, now Phase 1/2, including mesothelioma and NSCLC cohorts), with notable findings in mesothelioma after chemotherapy and immunotherapy. A Phase 3 trial of VT3989 in advanced epithelioid mesothelioma, with gemcitabine and vinorelbine as comparators, is registered as not yet recruiting with an estimated start in December 2026 (NCT07824986). The company closed a $35 million Series D led by RA Capital Management, with existing investors Canaan Partners and Cenova Capital, and said it had raised $105 million to date.
