Cantrixil is an experimental medicine from Vivesto being developed for blood cancers. It is at the laboratory stage for acute myeloid leukaemia, where the FDA has given it orphan drug status, after an earlier phase 1 study.
Cantrixil consists of TRX-E-002-1, a third-generation benzopyran, encapsulated in cyclodextrin, developed by Vivesto. The company says a phase 1 study of Cantrixil has been done, that data from 2024 and 2025 show cytotoxicity at low doses and activity in combination with other cancer drugs in haematological cancer cell lines, and that it is now in preclinical development for acute myeloid leukaemia. The FDA designated Cantrixil an orphan drug for ovarian cancer on 20 April 2015 and for acute myeloid leukaemia on 1 November 2026.
The active molecule TRX-E-002-1, described by the developer as a selective third-generation benzopyran, encapsulated in cyclodextrin; the company says it acts on the full range of cancer cells, including chemotherapy-resistant tumour-initiating cells.
