GlyTR1 is an experimental protein from GlyTR Therapeutics that latches onto sugar molecules crowded on cancer cells and pulls immune T cells in to attack. It has been tested only in the laboratory and in animals.
GlyTR1 is a bispecific Glycan-dependent T cell Recruiter developed by GlyTR Therapeutics from work at the University of California, Irvine. It binds beta1,6GlcNAc-branched N-glycans through a lectin domain and engages T cells through CD3. The NIH RePORTER abstract for STTR award 4R42CA302415-02 describes GlyTR1 and GlyTR2 as killing cells with high but not low expression of tumour-associated carbohydrate antigens in preclinical models; there are no human results.
A Glycan-dependent T cell Recruiter: a lectin domain binds beta1,6GlcNAc-branched N-glycans, which are dense on many cancer cells, and an anti-CD3 domain brings T cells to kill them. Connects to CD3.
1.One arm of GlyTR1 binds CD3 on the cancer cell.
