The Azienda USL-IRCCS di Reggio Emilia integrates the province's public health services with the Arcispedale Santa Maria Nuova, which holds IRCCS status in 'advanced technologies and care models in oncology'. The cancer programme covers medical oncology, radiotherapy, haematology, surgical oncology, nuclear medicine and pathology, and is known for its work on care organisation and outcomes research, cancer registries and screening evaluation as well as translational research in lymphoma and breast cancer. It is accredited by the Organisation of European Cancer Institutes as a Comprehensive Cancer Centre.
