Organisation of European Cancer Institutes

aka OECI, OECI-EEIG

The network of European cancer centres that runs the accreditation and designation programme awarding 'Comprehensive Cancer Centre' status.

Founded in Vienna in 1979 and organised as a European Economic Interest Grouping in Brussels, the Organisation of European Cancer Institutes brings together cancer centres and institutes across Europe. Its Accreditation and Designation Programme, launched in 2008, audits members against quality standards and designates them as Cancer Centres or Comprehensive Cancer Centres, a status now held by institutions from the Netherlands Cancer Institute and Gustave Roussy to centres in Portugal, Slovenia and the Czech Republic. OECI working groups cover cancer economics, pathobiology and biobanking, digital health and outcomes research, and it contributes to EU projects on comprehensive cancer infrastructures under Europe's Beating Cancer Plan.
