Overview
The Cancer Institute AP-HP Nord groups the oncology and haematology services of the Assistance Publique-Hôpitaux de Paris hospitals in northern Paris and its suburbs, including Saint-Louis, Bichat, Beaujon, Lariboisière and Avicenne, with Université Paris Cité. Hôpital Saint-Louis is one of the world's leading haematology hospitals, where Jean Dausset described HLA and where early European bone marrow transplants were performed; today it hosts large leukaemia, lymphoma, myeloma and transplant programmes and the Saint-Louis Research Institute. The institute is accredited by the Organisation of European Cancer Institutes as a Comprehensive Cancer Centre.
