Centre François Baclesse
The Unicancer cancer centre for Lower Normandy, an OECI Comprehensive Cancer Centre and the base for Normandy's proton therapy programme.
Overview
Centre François Baclesse is the Centre de Lutte Contre le Cancer for Caen and Lower Normandy, one of the 18 Unicancer centres. It provides surgery, medical oncology, radiotherapy and nuclear medicine, and is the clinical partner of the ARCHADE hadron therapy project, whose proton therapy centre in Caen treats patients from across the region. Research with the University of Caen Normandy and the GANIL heavy-ion laboratory covers radiobiology, radiotherapy physics, epidemiology and neuro-oncology. The centre is accredited by the Organisation of European Cancer Institutes as a Comprehensive Cancer Centre.
