Overview
The Institut de Cancérologie de l'Ouest was created by merging the Centre Paul Papin in Angers and the Centre René Gauducheau in Saint-Herblain near Nantes, and is one of the 18 Centres de Lutte Contre le Cancer of the Unicancer network. It delivers surgery, radiotherapy, medical oncology and nuclear medicine across the Pays de la Loire, hosts an early-phase trials unit, and works with the universities of Angers and Nantes and Inserm on radiopharmaceuticals, alpha-emitter therapy and immuno-oncology, drawing on the Nantes nuclear medicine and cyclotron infrastructure. The ICO is accredited by the Organisation of European Cancer Institutes as a Comprehensive Cancer Centre.
