Genoa's university hospital, which absorbed Italy's National Cancer Research Institute (IST) and is an OECI Comprehensive Cancer Centre.
Overview
The Ospedale Policlinico San Martino is the largest hospital in Liguria and the teaching hospital of the University of Genoa. It incorporates the former Istituto Nazionale per la Ricerca sul Cancro (IST), giving it an IRCCS research mandate in oncology and neuroscience, and it is accredited by the Organisation of European Cancer Institutes as a Comprehensive Cancer Centre. Clinical and research strengths include medical oncology and early drug development, haematology and transplantation, neuro-oncology, breast cancer, and cancer immunology and immunotherapy, with strong participation in Italian and European cooperative trials.
