Austria's leading academic cancer centre at the Vienna General Hospital, known for the ABCSG breast trials, brain metastasis research and the MedAustron ion therapy centre.

The Comprehensive Cancer Center Vienna joins the Medical University of Vienna and the Vienna General Hospital (AKH), one of Europe's largest hospitals. Michael Gnant's Austrian Breast and Colorectal Cancer Study Group ran the ABCSG-12 and ABCSG-18 trials that defined adjuvant bone-targeted therapy and co-led the PALLAS trial of adjuvant palbociclib, Matthias Preusser's neuro-oncology group is a European reference for brain metastases and glioma trials, and Ulrich Jäger's haematology division leads lymphoma and CAR-T programmes. The university's radiation oncology department under Dietmar Georg provides the clinical programme at MedAustron in Wiener Neustadt, Austria's proton and carbon-ion therapy centre. The CCC also hosts the Institute of Cancer Research and a large phase 1 unit.
