A European Union project, coordinated by Charité in Berlin, that is building a cancer information website for patients, survivors, families and carers, with a shared library of reviewed content and local versions in ten EU countries.
EU-CIP (CORDIS project 101214125, topic HORIZON-MISS-2024-CANCER-01-06, "An information portal for the European Cancer Patient Digital Centre") runs from 1 May 2025 to 30 April 2029 with a total cost of about EUR 12.4 million and an EU contribution of about EUR 12.0 million, coordinated by Charité Universitätsmedizin Berlin. It aims to create a patient-centred portal covering prevention, early detection, diagnosis, treatment options with risks, side effects and late effects, rehabilitation, recurrence and palliative care, prioritising high-incidence cancers, cancers with poor prognosis and paediatric cancers. A Common Library of Contents drawing on the Knowledge Centre on Cancer, the European Cancer Information System, existing national portals and European guidelines will be shared with all member states, with local nodes in ten, and a governance framework for content creation and review supported by AI tooling; patient organisations in the consortium review content and usability.
