A US charity, founded in 1999 by a sarcoma survivor, that offers guidance, support groups, a map of sarcoma centres and grants towards an expert second opinion.
The Sarcoma Alliance says on its home page that its founder, Suzanne Leider, went four years after her sarcoma diagnosis before meeting another survivor, and founded the organisation in 1999 around the words guidance, education and support. It offers a guide for new patients, online and in-person support groups, a map of sarcoma centres and donor-funded grants that ease the cost of an expert second opinion from a sarcoma specialist, and it holds an annual sarcoma conference whose talks are available to watch. Its president is Philip Leider. The IRS lists it as a 501(c)(3) charity in Mill Valley, California, with tax exemption from March 2000.
