The Glasgow surgeon-scientist who mapped the genomic subtypes of pancreatic cancer and built Precision-Panc, the UK programme that profiled tumours to route patients into the PRIMUS trials.
Andrew Biankin holds the Regius Chair of Surgery at the University of Glasgow, is a Cancer Research UK Clinician Scientist and Wellcome Trust Senior Investigator, a Fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh and of the Academy of Medical Sciences, and Executive Director of ICGC-ARGO, the International Cancer Genome Consortium's Accelerating Research in Genomic Oncology programme. His university page says he has authored over 160 articles including seminal works on cancer genomics and precision medicine, and that his work now focuses on implementing precision oncology in health systems. He leads the Precision-Panc programme, whose master protocol (ISRCTN14879538, sponsored by NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde) took extra tissue at diagnostic biopsy from patients at 27 UK sites to match them to the PRIMUS trials, and co-authored the STARPAC2 protocol.
