Liverpool pancreatic surgeon who leads EUROPAC, the UK registry and surveillance programme for families with inherited pancreatic cancer risk and hereditary pancreatitis.
Chris Halloran is Professor of Pancreatic Surgery at the University of Liverpool. His university page records a Liverpool medical degree (1994), FRCS (Eng) in 1998, research with Eithne Costello and John Neoptolemos on combination chemo-gene therapy for pancreatic cancer, recognition as a surgical trials methodologist, the European Pancreatic Club Gold Medal (2016) and an honorary FRCSEd (2024). He is clinical lead of EUROPAC, the European registry of familial pancreatic cancer and hereditary pancreatitis (ISRCTN62546421, sponsored by the University of Liverpool), whose scientific arm Europac-PLUS and surveillance arm Europac-PRIME study secondary screening; the 2026 European Journal of Cancer outcomes paper reports 893 individuals under UK surveillance since 2000. He was a co-author of ESPAC5.
