EUROPAC registers people with a family history of pancreatic cancer or with hereditary pancreatitis and offers imaging surveillance through its Europac-PRIME arm, with research on secondary screening through Europac-PLUS. The current ISRCTN record (62546421) lists the University of Liverpool as sponsor, recruitment from 1 July 2019 to 1 July 2039, a target of 10,000 and ten UK sites: Royal Liverpool, Glasgow Royal Infirmary, the Freeman in Newcastle, Leeds, Nottingham City, Morriston in Swansea, Bristol Royal Infirmary, Plymouth, Southampton and UCLH. The 2026 European Journal of Cancer outcomes paper reports that 893 asymptomatic individuals started surveillance between January 2000 and April 2025 (median age 52); after Family Risk stratification was introduced in 2020, actionable pancreatic findings rose from 0.8 percent (4 of 508) to 3.6 percent (14 of 385), and operable lesions from 0.6 to 3 percent. NICE NG85 recommends surveillance for hereditary pancreatitis with PRSS1, for BRCA1, BRCA2, PALB2 or CDKN2A carriers with a first-degree relative affected, and for Peutz-Jeghers syndrome; Pancreatic Cancer UK notes that EUROPAC is the route to it.
