The UK precision medicine platform for pancreatic cancer, led from Glasgow: profile the tumour at diagnosis, then route the patient to a matching PRIMUS trial.
Precision-Panc, led by Andrew Biankin and sponsored by NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, opened its master protocol in December 2017. The ISRCTN record lists 27 recruiting sites from Glasgow Royal Infirmary and Aberdeen to the Royal Marsden, UCLH, Addenbrooke's, The Christie, Weston Park, Bristol, Imperial, Nottingham, the Royal Free, Ninewells, St George's, Southampton, Queen Elizabeth Birmingham, King's, the Churchill, Castle Hill, Poole, the Freeman and Bournemouth, a target of 5,000 and an end of recruitment on 29 March 2022; the registry shows it as suspended. Its PRIMUS trials (ISRCTN75002153 PRIMUS 001 first-line, ISRCTN34129115 PRIMUS 002 neoadjuvant, ISRCTN16004234 PRIMUS 004 second-line platform, ISRCTN53212600 PRIMUS 006, and STARPAC2 as PRIMUS 005) tested treatments matched to molecular subtype; PRIMUS 002, 004 and 006 are recorded as stopped and PRIMUS 001 as no longer recruiting. The programme's legacy is a UK network of centres able to take research biopsies and run molecular profiling at diagnosis.
