University Hospitals Birmingham / University of Birmingham Cancer Research Centre
England's second city's cancer centre, home to one of the UK's largest academic cancer trials units and major bladder, colorectal and paediatric trials.
The Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham is the tertiary cancer centre for the West Midlands, with one of the largest stem cell transplant programmes in the UK and a regional CAR-T service. The University of Birmingham's Cancer Research UK Clinical Trials Unit has run practice-defining trials such as POUT (adjuvant chemotherapy in upper-tract urothelial cancer), FOxTROT with Leeds, and numerous paediatric and leukaemia trials for the UK's children's cancer groups. The Institute of Cancer and Genomic Sciences studies Epstein-Barr virus-driven cancers, lymphoma biology and cancer inflammation, and Birmingham Children's Hospital is a principal treatment centre. The city hosts a CRUK Centre and the Birmingham Health Partners academic health science system.
