Overview
Weston Park Hospital opened in 1970 and is one of a small number of dedicated NHS cancer hospitals in England, now run by Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust as the Weston Park Cancer Centre. It provides radiotherapy, chemotherapy, immunotherapy, teenage and young adult cancer care and a large clinical trials unit for South Yorkshire, North Derbyshire and parts of Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire. Research with the University of Sheffield includes bone oncology and bone metastasis (the Mellanby Centre), sarcoma, and radiotherapy, and the Weston Park Cancer Charity funds research and patient support on site.
