Valery Lemmens

Valery Lemmens is Director of OncoZON, the regional oncology network of ten affiliated healthcare institutions in the south-east Netherlands that coordinates shared care pathways, expert teams and knowledge exchange for cancer care. He took up the post on 1 August 2026, succeeding René van der Hulst, who had led the network for three years. An epidemiologist, he has held a professorship in region-integrated cancer care at Maastricht University since 2024, spent more than 20 years with the Netherlands Comprehensive Cancer Organisation (IKNL), including as a board member from 2019 and later as medical adviser, and previously held board positions at Maastro and a professorship in cancer surveillance at Erasmus MC. Board chair Helen Mertens, CEO of Maastricht UMC+, announced the appointment.
