MET-RADS-P is a standard way to perform and report whole-body MRI in advanced prostate cancer, so that spread to the bones and elsewhere is described the same way from scan to scan.
Whole-body MRI and PET/CT detect metastases in advanced cancers more accurately than CT and bone scans, but whole-body MRI varies in availability and quality. An international panel (Padhani and colleagues, European Urology 2017) wrote the METastasis Reporting and Data System for Prostate Cancer: minimum acquisition protocol, quality standards and interpretation and reporting rules for all forms of advanced prostate cancer. The authors state it needs validation in trials of established and new treatments.
