PROMISE registry: free germline testing in prostate cancer

PROMISE (Prostate Cancer Registry of Outcomes and Germline Mutations for Improved Survival and Treatment Effectiveness) is a research registry led by academic prostate cancer groups. Any man with a prostate cancer diagnosis in the United States can enrol online; the study sends a saliva kit, runs a multi-gene germline panel at no charge, and returns the result with access to genetic counselling. Men found to carry a pathogenic variant are followed for outcomes and told about trials that fit. The point of the registry is that guideline-recommended germline testing in prostate cancer is often skipped, and a free direct route removes one reason.
