Ronald McDonald Houses give families of seriously ill children, including children with cancer, a free or low-cost place to stay next to the hospital.
Overview
Ronald McDonald House Charities runs hundreds of Houses and hospital Family Rooms worldwide. Families of children in treatment can stay close to the hospital, often for the whole course of treatment, at no or nominal cost; referral comes from the hospital's social work team. For childhood cancer, where treatment runs for months at a specialist centre, it is one of the largest sources of free lodging.
