Argos was a North Carolina company whose personalised dendritic-cell vaccine rocapuldencel-T, made from each patient's own tumour RNA, failed the phase 3 ADAPT trial in kidney cancer and the company closed in 2019.
Overview
Argos Therapeutics, founded in 1997 in Durham, North Carolina, built the Arcelis platform, which loaded a patient's dendritic cells with RNA amplified from their own tumour. Rocapuldencel-T (AGS-003) was tested with sunitinib in the phase 3 ADAPT trial in metastatic renal cell carcinoma; the trial was stopped for futility in 2017 and the company filed for bankruptcy in 2019. Its trials remain on ClinicalTrials.gov under Argos as lead sponsor.
